Unemployed and Married
The system is surely wrong and needs to change. When I was made redundant just two weeks to Christmas 2005 I noticed at the job centre the lady told me what I was entitled to a week and I said that was not good enough as I have a wife and two kids to feed.
She advised me that, “if I was single I will get a lot more”. I never could understand that. So I told her I will get a job in a month’s time anyway because I really don’t want to fall behind on my mortgage. Three months later I got a job and I had been thinking of having my own site (website) for years, but in the early years it was expensive. And now I have finally done that, just that. And with Opera Winfrey inspiring me there was no limit when I started writing about relationships, facts of everyday life and the pit falls in society today, as we know it.
The System
I am so tired of the Labour Party and Conservative Party who keep saying they are parties who care for their citizens, but do they? No. I have canvassed and asked a lot of people where I work at the moment, nobody is happy with the way society is at present. Poverty is a big problem. I did not receive a penny from the D.S.S or job centre until the end of March 2006. And guess what? I was taxed on it.
I want people who are better off to know that poor people in society find it really tough to get what they are owed from the department of social security or are entitle to; this is one of a number of contributions to crime (fact). I live in Milton Keynes and my claim was being dealt with in Portsmouth. Nothing made sense at all, when I was told that on the phone. The next day I reported to the D.S.S saying I need money for food and I am finding it difficult to cope with the current position I am in.
I was told I could get a crisis loan and I refused, saying I will need to speak to a supervisor as I have not received a penny since last January 2006. I am owed money it should not take three months to seek out money due to me.
I was told it’s the system, what rubbish. There were other people present and a security man dealing with a man kicking the door and shouting I am fucking starving you bastards, I could understand his frustration and I could also understand that the advisors are only dealing with members of the public, doing a difficult job, trying to find the balance is difficult.
The Government isn’t claiming money from the state are they? No. So they don’t really know anything about how the current system is failing the unemployed.. True or False? “It’s been brought to their attention.” What I do know is that the lady I dealt with said the government have been told the system needs a change. So the answer is false. When the poor and unemployed are failed by the system of our government, what does the government think some of these people do? Crime, some turn to crime. We give money to foreign countries that don’t need the money and countries we currently have troops in. I believe charity begins at home. It’s time to tackle the poverty at home first before handing out money to other nations. It’s time for this government to make a change and keep up with some of the good things they have already done so far. We are now in the twentieth century and poverty in all countries is on the increase. We are a nation going to host the Olympics in 2012 and we as a country and its citizens should be in a joyous mood come the Olympic Games. But with people struggling to feed themselves and rising crime and street sleepers things need to change now and the government needs to speak out and be counted. Do the right thing make a change for your citizens, show you care. Enough talking, it’s time for action.
